Allianz Arena

The Swiss architects based the concept of their work on making the Allianz Arena an icon for all their teams, which was a great challenge as more than one team would use it as their home ground. How to make two teams feel identified with the same stadium? The solution was as effective as it was ingenious: illuminate the stadium in the colours of each team when they play their home games, which changes the entire exterior appearance of the stadium. The external architecture of the stadium is composed of 2,874 rhomboidal metal panels made of ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer) at a pressure of 0.035 hPa. Each panel can be independently illuminated in white, red or blue.
